Dancing on Water and Resurfacing

Monoprint; meaning to have a single transfer of an image by various means. The process may be replicated yet the print itself is a fingerprint of an image. It is an individual unlike any other. A moment in time.

An ancient type of monoprint that is a cathartic process for me is Ebru. Dropping pigment on a thickened water and  with the use of thin insruments and coordinated moment an image will dance into place on the surface of the water. It is then transferred to paper. A dance to remember. The items below include the thistle and peacock methods of Ebru.

through experimentation and scrubbing, I happened across a more modern monoprint method while resurfacing boards. The nuances of resurfacing and washing a painted board created the last six of these pieces in these works.
